2023 - the year that passed

THE BUSINESS YEAR 

As 2023 draws to a close, we reflect on a year filled with learning experiences. This year marked a significant Anniversary of Meresalg Marketing - our 10th birthday, a considerable achievement in itself. Our continued presence and ability to embrace new and exciting opportunities in the market is testament to our adaptability.

With new possibilities, it's hard to avoid AI. However, we can emphasise that this greeting was written by Andreas and Lau, without ChatGPT to help - it feels like it's been a long time since it happened. It's amazing how quickly you can get used to something that's for the better.

2023 has been a year of intense focus on strengthening our affiliate marketing and link building activities. Although we had planned to update our website this year, we recognise that this goal has been pushed back to 2024. Instead, we have concentrated on improving our link building system and developing both existing and new affiliate sites.

We have continued to receive requests for SEO assistance from both new and previous customers. While we want to meet these needs, in 2023 we have had to prioritise and in some cases turn away work to focus on what we see as the future of our business - affiliate marketing and link building. These two business areas now stand robust and independent, and we look forward to building on this foundation in 2024 and beyond.

We would like to thank our customers, business partners, sparring partners, friends and family for the past year, and a special thanks to our partners for their support and understanding. Below you will find an overview of our financial results, personal highlights, new faces in the team and a summary of the year in numbers.

ECONOMY 

2023 has been a solid year for us financially. We present a profit of DKK 728,930 before tax. Although this is a decline compared to 2022, it is important to point out that the year has been characterised by significant investments in new projects. In addition, the year was characterised by a number of personal events (which you can read more about in the following section), which also plays a role in our overall assessment. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our current position and feel well equipped and confident for 2024.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES 

At the beginning of the year, the Lau embarked on an exciting journey to Austria. Here he combined his passion for basketball with his work at Meresalg. Now he's back in Kolding, where he lives with his girlfriend.

Andreas has settled in well at the house in Øster Lindet, but the biggest highlight this year has been family life: Andreas and Malene welcomed their son Walther in May 2023, a dear new addition to the family.

NEW FACES 

During 2023, we have had the pleasure of expanding our team with two new part-time employees, Louise Christensen and Anna Grue.

In the past, our part-time positions have predominantly focused on copywriting, but with the advent of AI technologies, specifically ChatGPT, the role for Louise and Anna has taken a new and exciting turn. Together we have developed skills in using these new technologies, which not only optimises our workflows, but is also expected to save us over £250,000 by 2024 on tasks we previously outsourced. This is thanks to our innovative framework and the contribution the two talented young employees bring to our team.

In addition, we look forward to welcoming Louise as an intern in January.
